Back to the Big lake with Robert and Jon from Montreal. We started the day early just the way I like it as the fish tend to bite better around sunrise….Again the Robert and Jon timed their trip for when the fishing is red hot!!  Two days of solid fishing with some great anglers who know how to land fish!! We boated 16 the first day and 14 the second day out …total of 30 salmon for 42 hits!!!  We had a good bite on flies and meat , with the biggest around 26lbs . We also had a quadruple header…that’s right 4 fish on at once(smallest was 16 lbs ) . Robert and Jon landed the 4 salmon like pros with some great photo’s as memories.

King Of The Lakes

Day 1:

Its a big weekend for Team Fishing4Tails…consisting of Jared Briskin and a new member Arnaldo Desousa .  With our Game plan set to make a long run from Whitby to fish the Toronto Island we were charged and ready to go!!…Blast Off was at 5:15 AM  adenaline pumping as the horn goes off!! We motored the 30 miles to our spot beating  the pack as we averaged 46 mph on the way there . My team had the lines down within few minutes of arriving on our spot and it didn’t take long as we boated 5 keepers within the first hour of fishing…we were on the bite . We took over 20 + hits ( shots ) that day and boating 13 most of them quality tournament fish…we were pretty happy !! We had to be in port by 2 pm so by 12:30 we packed up and drove back to Whitby With our nice catch in the livewell.

Day one weight-in:  We loaded the cooler in line for the weight-inwith our 5 biggest salmon. As Arnaldo said it that morning “i got a feeling “…it felt good as most boats didn’t get there 5 fish limit .  After a nail biting hour the results were in …..3 rd place day one !!! Wow  Team Fishing4tails was sitting pretty good with one more day to go!!

Day 2 :

Back on the water for blast off at 5:15 with the same game plan to run to the island…but…this time every boat in the field was pointing in the same direction as the Toronto Island …No problem were are in third place fastest boat in the field and still had that good feeling.  We ran a little faster on day 2 to the  Toronto Island to separate us from the other boats…lines in and fishing with 6 rods pulling our rigs !! once again We had our box within the hour or so and upgraded our fish all morning …taking over 20+ shots again and landing 14 fish…..Most of the pack fished right beside us on day 2 but our game plan was so solid were didn’t even care what they were catching or not catching …being focused on your tournament days pays off!! speed and color was key to that day as well as lure depth. My Team again  was top notch for fighting and landing the ones we needed for the tournament. We again packed up with enough time for us to run 30 miles back to Whitby…. in the pier heads by 2 pm weight-in at 3 pm

Day 2 weight-in:

On day 2 weight-in we were placed in the back of the line as the top teams would weight in last…as we placed third the day before we were third last to weight-in….it was getting close …most teams again didn’t get a good box . We had a great box for day 2 so our confidence was way up!! now our turn …..with 2 more teams to go.  After the other teams  weight-in we moved up one spot to 2nd place for King of the Lakes…taking home a nice cheque and trophy!!!gotta thanks my team again for a great weekend on getting the fish to the boat!!!!

Pre-Fishing King of the Lakes

June 25th, 2009

I have been prefishing all week for the upcoming King of the Lakes Tournament running out of Whitby.  I covered water oakville to east of Bowmanville in seach of big Salmon. I was using my regualr presentaions on one side of the boat and experimenting on the other making sure all the lures got washed to refine the bite ..So today I was fishing with Axel. We fished the Whitby East and West eliminating that water as the fish were just not there ..we did manage 4 fish for the morning before a good storm rolled in….I know where the fish are hiding !!

Got my game plan set for the tournament and feeling good!!june 25 2009

One monster Sam reeled in was 28 lbs on an IGFA certified scale!!! biggest this year on our boat!!! Way to go Sam !!! great job on fighting those fish!!! I pretty sure they went home pretty happy that day as we had great fishing and good weather.

It was nice to get my whole family on the boat as the fishing was on fire that day!!! Always good when kids are fishing , keeps them busy and interested in the sport. My kids are hooked already!! My Wife Sharyn was first on the rod as the wire rod fires off with a Dipsy Flasher fly combo …zzzzzzzzzzzzz it took 500 ft on the first run and another 100 on the second before the fish turned ..after  a good fight a big 27 lb King was landed!!  A great family shot!!! Next up was Ethan He handled the rod all alone on the mono rod off the rigger on a spoon.  Then layla was up she landed a nice 4 lb Coho she wanted for the BBQ. Now the little guys turn, Noah… boom the rod off course his was big as well with some help from Dad We got him in with a nice netting  job by Mom….nice 17 lbs Kings for my little guy!!!! We fished a few hours boating 8 Salmon and losing 3 others . That type of fishing makes the kids want to come back for more! We had a great time on the boat with family. The photos says it all!!!

Lake Simcoe Lakers and Whitefish

June 10th, 2009

What a day…. calm winds, steady conditions and a great feeling the day was going to be great…and it was!!!I drove up with J.J.  and met Brain at the marina on lake Simcoe. We first targeted the whitefish getting a few right away then the schools moved so we decided to troll for Lakers I set up my laker simcoe pattern and within a few seconds of setting up the left rigger goes off with Fish on!! A nice 8 lb laker ….a good start. Brian was up next and sooner than later bam fish on again…with some good head shakes this Laker looked bigger and it was at 13 lbs . After some quick photos she was released back to where she came. over the next few hours it was non-stop action , we landed 13 and lost a few more . We then went back for more whitefish and got a few more in a hours work!!
